Cooling Centers Open on Saturday
2010-07-23
7-23-10 The National Weather Service in Birmingham has extended the heat advisory to run through 7 p.m. tomorrow due to extremely high heat index numbers. Lots of sun and little chance of precipitation make this heat wave particularly dangerous, that’s why some cooling centers in the area, will remain open. The Carnes Recreation Center will be open from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. in Attalla, the Elliott Community Center, Hokes Bluff First United Methodist Church, the East Gadsden Community Center and the Carver Community Center will all open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.
