McClellan Radio Tower Collapses
2010-07-23
7-23-10 Two Albertville men have been pronounced dead after a McClellan radio tower they were working on late yesterday afternoon was knocked down. Barry Sloan, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene while Jonce Hubble, 41,  was airlifted to UAB hospital, but later in the night died in surgery. The two were both employees of McCord Communications in Anniston and were working on a forty-foot radio tower off Alps Drive at McClellan. Sloan was on the tower when a vehicle hit a cable that is known to stabilize structures which caused the tower to collapse. Reports say the incident is said to be strictly an accident.
